SUPER TED

Last May, I lost my gorgeous Tabby boy D’arcy to HCM, aged only 6. I was devastated and swore I’d never have another tabby boy, as I had previously rescued Dante aged 13.5, who had died at 15 of old age and thyroid issues. It could be said that I was overreacting, but I loved my tabby boys so much, and it seemed that I wasn’t destined to have them for very long. However, once I finally decided to have a male cat to keep my 2 beautiful girls in line and I started to have a look for a suitable mog to rescue. Soon, I came across Teddy on the CP Reading East website. Teddy had been in a car accident, been pretty badly injured and then left at the vets. I think his tag line was “Teddy forgot his green cross code”. Well, my heart melted when I saw his little tabby face (yes, a tabby boy) and I got in touch.

lillyA lovely lady came and did a home visit, decided quite rightly that I was obviously an obsessed cat person (responsible pet owner), and recommended that I could rescue Teddy. Kate brought him to me very soon after (as she was off on holidays and had been nursing Ted thru his recuperation) and Super Ted was home. At 9 months, his kittenish ways seemed unaffected by his injuries and he was soon terrorising the 2 girls. Lilli showed him his place fairly quickly by the swipe, spit and growl technique. Marmalade did rather more of the hiding and running away thing.

marmaladeThese days, 9 months on, Ted and Marmalade are occasional friends, occasional playmates and regular chasies/Stair War partners. Lilli is still the dominant lady and simply accepts Ted’s presence as an unavoidable irritation. Ted loves to go out and explore (often for hours on end) and has beaten a path up the lawn. His constant leaping up and down from the garden fence belies his previous injuries, and his conversational style (noisy and lots) often lands him in bother. His hunting of mice also lands him in bother especially when said mouse is in my house still alive…….

tedHowever, Ted is such a cute tabby boy and always brings a smile to my face with his tibby kisses and feline natterings (He says “Oh Man” very like Janice Dickinson). He demands that the bathroom sink have a constant supply of water. Otherwise he needs to drink from the loo if some irresponsible human leaves the lid up (it seems the cat water bowl is a last resort!!) He loves to play with his catnip mice, string, invisible things that only he can see, and my niece. And he’s always up for a spot of napping in my or his (the spare room) bed and will grace guests with his night time presence whether they want him or not!!!

Big thanks to Kate and all at CP for allowing Ted into my life – he keeps us all on our toes!!!

A SUCCESS STORY

Willow, two brothers, and his mum were collected at 5 weeks old from a garage where a kind lady had been feeding their mum; unfortunately, due to the kittens not being handled within those first important weeks, they were very nervous and frightened of any human contact. We placed them into a foster home to be socialised and Willow made such remarkable progress, it was felt that he was ready to be homed. Along came Family F and he has made his mark and here is what they had to say about his progress:-

After the first weekend
Willow has settled in great and, by the first evening, was cuddled on the couch with me. Our other cat is a little upset but Willow tries to make friends every time she enters. She seems a little happier this morning and came in to have a look at Willow and have a hiss and growl then departed.

willowCouple of weeks later
Willow is doing really great and Tuks and him now cuddle up when sleeping. It is great fun watching them run and play together. He has now had his 2nd set of vaccinations and we had him micro chipped as he goes for short spells in the garden with Tuks as she doesn't venture very far. Here is a picture that show how well Willow has settled into his new home.

Thank you to Family F, who rehomed Willow and have given him the space and love to grow into a fantastic cat !!

FLORENCE - AN ADORABLE CATflorence

We have received an email from Mr & Mrs G which we have reproduced here with their kind permission:- I would just like to email a quick note to say a big thank you. We adopted Melanie a few days ago and she is the most amazing cat. We have renamed her Florence because we had provisionally booked a cat called Florence from a rescue centre and had a tag made up but this cat became too poorly to re-home. Melanie has settled in fantastically. She adores all of us including the children and the dog! She has exceeded all of our expectations, she is an adorable cat and will be well and truly loved. Thanks again, you could not have found a more perfect loving cat for us!

story4_01A LETTER FROM CASPER

Letter from Casper to his foster Mum, and who is now called Charlie ……….I bet you don’t recognise me in these pictures – it’s me Charlie (Casper). We both liked the name Casper but my new Mum thought that my new Gran would remember Charlie better. Anyway, I am named after Mum’s favourite singer, so I feel honoured. I thought I would drop you a line to let you know that I love my new home – I’ve been here almost a year now. I get lots of love and cuddles, lovely food and lots of lovely secret hide-aways indoors and outdoors too. I have got a special cat friend who comes into my garden and we snooze under the shade together when it is warm. I have met my cousin Woody, only once mind you, we got a long fine – we were only babies then, but I will have to get down there to meet up with him again. Must close now, I’ve got some investigating to do – hope you like the pictures. Lots of Love. Charlie x.
