WE ARE NOT AN "EMERGENCY" CHARITY If a cat has an urgent medical problem, you should contact a vet at once.
Who are we? Cats Protection is a UK National Charity - Registered National Charity No. 203644(England and Wales) and SC037711 (Scotland). We are a long-established cat welfare charity. In fact we are the oldest and largest cat charity in the UK.
What are we? We are primarily a rescue organisation. We have 30 purpose built Shelters and over 260 voluntary Branches throughout the UK - STAFFED MOSTLY BY VOLUNTEERS - who between them rescue and re-home around 60,000 cats a year - that's one every day. We also encourage the neutering of all cats not required for breeding and provide an information service to the public.
CATS PROTECTION'S OBJECTIVES ARE:
- The RELIEF OF SUFFERING AND DISTRESS amongst cats and kittens by the provision of food, shelter and veterinary attention.
- THE RE-HOMING of stray and unwanted cats and kittens.
- The encouragement of NEUTERING AND SPAYING to limit the number of unwanted cats and kittens.
- Giving ADVICE, HELP AND INFORMATION to cat owners. To inform the public on the care of cats and kittens.
The Reading (East), Wokingham & Bracknell Branch was formed in January 1994 when the former Reading & District Branch (itself formed in May 1985) was divided into two autonomous Branches to better support the large catchment area in the heart of the Thames Valley, and to respond more effectively to the ever increasing requests for help.
